Zedekiah, like Jehoiakim, was an evil king who reigned for 11 years (2 Kings 24:18-19). It would normally have taken Moses and the children of Israel eleven days to reach their destination, but they instead spent forty years in the desert going in circles.įurthermore, Jehoiakim, one of Judah's final kings, reigned for 11 years from 609 to 598 B.C., but he "did evil in the eyes of the Lord" (2 Kings 23:36-37).įollowing that, King Nebuchadnezzar installed Zedekiah as the puppet ruler of Judea, and it wasn't long before Zedekiah rebelled against his kings and took control of Jerusalem. He thought this gift was a blessing from Christ, but his brothers didn't see it that way and sold him, eventually leading to Joseph becoming a slave of the Egyptians (Genesis 37).Īccording to Deuteronomy 1:2, there was no need for the never-ending intervals in the journey from Horeb to the Promised Land. Joseph, Jacob's eleventh son, possessed the ability to interpret dreams. As a result, Jacob fled his brother's presence and returned to his homeland with his wives and 11 sons. In Genesis 32:22, Jacob's brother, Esau, expresses his displeasure with the fact that he stole his birthright. By mixing up their languages, the Lord caused chaos and confusion among the builders, and they stopped building the tower. In Genesis 11:1-9, God judges the people of Judah, who had only one language at the time, for banding together to build the Tower of Babel, a tower that would reach the heavens.
